Unfortunately due the Covid-19 pandemic sweeping the globe at present, we have been forced to temporarily postpone all tours in line with Government directives.

We will take this time to do some research for our tours and to investigatie other ways we can bring some awesome content to our customers.

We will be writing some more blogs, doing live feeds and asking questions of our customers if there is anything they would like to know more on.

All customers who were booked on tours until April 30th would have received an email with a gift voucher in it this evening.  Please contact us if there are any issues.

We look forward to reopening as soon as we are allowed and it is safe to do so.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.

And most importantly, keep yourselves and your loved ones safe.

We will see you on the other side of this ready to deliver the quality tours you have experienced with our unique Twisted History!

Paranormal Investigation with the REM-Pod Device

The REM-Pod is one of our Ghost hunting device choices we use here at the Geelong Gaol to capture spirit activity. The REM-Pod emits an ElectroMagnetic field and with its tall antenna therefore detects anything that moves into that field that then sets of the internal devices alarm. We place the RemPod in our field of Investigation; kitchen bench, Stairwells, Surgical table, Morgue Autopsy table to name a few, then if the device is triggered and we (the humans) are not in the vicinity of the device, neither bugs or debris of any kind, then we may class it as paranormal.

Via active Investigation we have had strong spirit evidence in the East Wing stairs where the RemPod alarm is most always triggered by the spirit of a little girl, in a cell on the third level where a convict spirit resides, is triggered in the Condemned Cell near the Gallows trapdoor and many other evidence based captures too.

If you would like to join the team at Twisted History on a Paranormal Investigation tour, we run seven nights a week using various ghost hunting devices. To book call 1300865800.

Who is brave enough to enter the gates of the Geelong Gaol tonight or tomorrow night. Be guided through the most intact 19th century prison, hearing stories of the prisoner conditions, executions, and of course the ghosts! Perhaps you will be lucky enough to encounter one of our spirits….

Or if the paranormal is more to your liking then join us on an investigation tonight at 9.30pm or tomorrow night at midnight, in search for the evidence that the paranormal truly does exist. Do you have what it takes to become a ghost hunter for the night.

We have many interesting people that pass through the doors on our ghost tours.  But all of the staff love talking to people who have been associated with the Geelong Gaol in the past, no matter which side of the bars they were on!!

Recently we had the son of Deputy Governor of Geelong Gaol came on tour and who has very kindly been sharing some of his father’s photo collection.  With Tim’s permission we will be posting some of those photos up in the days to come.

Prison Officer Tom Fitzgerald was first at the Geelong Gaol in 1951. He was transferred to Chief Prison Officer at Geelong as Deputy Governor in August 1969.  Tom and his family lived in the 2 story residence on site until 1983.

All photo credits go to Tom Fitzgerald and his family.  We here at Twisted History are most appreciative of them being shared with us and having permission to share with everyone.

Photo: Geelong Prison Staff during WW2 when it was a military prison for Australian servicemen. The unit would have been a ‘Garrison Battalion’ as part of the Australian Army in WW2. It was similar to UK’s Home Guard. Many of the men are wearing World War One service ribbon bars.

How are you spending your Friday the 13th this week?  Why not join us on a ghost tour of the Geelong Gaol or perhaps, if you are brave enough, a Deadtime tour starting at midnight!  For more information and bookings, call 1300865800.

But as for Friday the 13th …….

The fear of the number 13 has been given a scientific name: “triskaidekaphobia”; and on analogy to this the fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskevidekatriaphobia, from the Greek words Paraskeví (meaning “Friday”), and dekatreís (meaning “thirteen”).

The superstition surrounding this day may have arisen in the Middle Ages, “originating from the story of Jesus’ last supper and crucifixion” in which there were 13 individuals present in the Upper Room on the 13th of Nisan Maundy Thursday, the night before his death on Good Friday.  While there is evidence of both Friday and the number 13 being considered unlucky, there is no record of the two items being referred to as especially unlucky in conjunction before the 19th century
